If You’re Not Winning, Fire Players. October 3, 2008

After opening this year’s fantasy football season with a 3-game losing streak, I became very unattached to my draft day roster and began dropping players right and left. It seems to have worked, as I added some solid position players to fill the open gaps in my lineup. Last week, I achieved my first victory, and I have the advantage this week as well. Come next Tuesday when the updated records are released, I could be on the cusp of a .500 season through six games, which would not totally be a bad thing, considering my knowledge of fantasy football lacks any real skill or substance.

My lineup for this week’s slate of NFL games include:

QB-Philip Rivers, San Diego
RB-LaDainian Tomlinson, San Diego
RB-DeAngelo Williams, Carolina
RB/WR-Ronnie Brown, Miami
WR-Wes Welker, New England
WR-Antonio Bryant, Tampa Bay
TE-Chris Cooley, Washington
D/ST-Patriots, New England
K-Robbie Gould, Chicago

Players fired… I don’t fully remember, but I picked up Le’Ron McClain, Hank Baskett, Pierre Thomas, among a few others.

Ugh! I thought 3-2-0 was bad (my Deadskins’ record), but I feel for ya. My criterion for choosing players goes something like this… Have I heard of this person? Would that make a good baby name? Do I like his team colors?

    Good luck this weekend!

Hey, I’m dong pretty well. 4-1 with an old man as my QB (Kurt Warner). Course, having Reggie Bush return punts for TDs doesn’t hurt either.

Doesn’t compare to the score you’re going to get in two weeks though!
